“A BRIEF LOOK AT THE NEW RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND DATA BREACH ISSUES FOR LAWYERS”
Mr. Solomon will be speaking regarding the revised ethics rules and data breach issues for lawyers. Please join us for this highly informative presentation!
About our Speaker:
Richard C. Solomon. Mr. Solomon currently is an active consultant on legal ethics and arbitrator, primarily in labor relations and employment disputes. He retired in 2001 after 25 years as Professor of Law at Southwestern University Law School in Los Angeles where he taught Legal Ethics, Employment Law, and Civil Procedure. He graduated UCLA Law School in 1967, and has lived in Mission Canyon since 1988 with his wife, Jana Zimmer. Richard also serves on the California State Bar Committee for Professional Responsibility and Conduct, as a Commissioner with the Santa Barbara County Civil Service Commission (since 1994), as a member of the Ethics Committee of the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association of Santa Barbara (since 2002), as a member of the board of directors of the Mission Canyon Association, and as the founding director and chair of the newly formed Santa Barbara County Immigrant Legal Defense Center. He served four terms on the board of the Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo Action Fund (now Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund) during which he chaired the Electoral Committee and the Board. He is passionate about sailing, cooking, and playing with his grand children.

“MINDFULNESS & IDENTIFYING IMPAIRMENTS TO ATTORNEY COMPETENCE”
From major law firms to top-tier law schools, lawyers’ interest in mindfulness continues to grow. This seminar will focus on mindfulness, and how mindfulness (or the lack thereof) can affect your practice. Dr. Lynda Gantt will also discuss how mindfulness can help attorneys identify problem behaviors and conditions, so that lawyers can continue delivering competent and ethical services to their clients. Mr. Escobedo will provide a lawyer’s prospective on this very important topic.
About our Speakers:
Lynda M. Gantt, Ph.D., LMFT: Dr. Gantt is a private marriage and family therapist in Santa Maria, providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy, custody evaluations, and mediation assistance. She holds her doctorate in psychology and masters in human communication from U.S. International University, where Dr. Gantt graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Gantt also holds various professional licenses in psychology, therapy, counseling, and nursing. She has served as professor of psychology at Chapman University, Hancock College, among other universities.
Ruben Escobedo III, Esq.: Mr. Ruben Escobedo is a California native specializing in defending public and private entities in civil suits ranging from garden variety personal injury cases to complex constitutional claims.
